Meet our new project officers - Koentadi Hadinoto

AMPC is pleased to welcome Dr Koentadi Hadinoto to our team. Koen joined AMPC in January 2025 as a Project Officer supporting the Advanced Manufacturing research program area. Koen will work closely with processors and service providers on projects that focus on automation, carcase optimisation, remote operations, and shadow robots.

With a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UNSW and over 4 years of experience in meat safety, technology research, and industry collaboration, Koen is passionate about driving innovation and sustainability within the food technology. His work bridges the gap between academic research and industry applications, ensuring that cutting-edge solutions deliver real-world impact.

He has collaborated with industry leaders to create more sustainable, efficient and safer processing systems, contributing to innovations that benefit both the environment and the bottom line. With a continuous drive for learning and growth, Koen is excited to contribute to the red meat processing industry by integrating new technologies, optimising processes, and improving safety and productivity outcomes for the industry.

How did you get involved in the red meat processing industry?

My journey into the red meat processing and research industry began during my undergraduate studies in 2021, when I developed a keen interest in food-related projects and the complexities of the food supply chain from farm to table. After completing my honours thesis, I seized the opportunity to pursue a PhD in chemical engineering, supported by AMPC. My PhD focused on developing an alternative disinfectant technology using only water, air and electricity for meat safety, and demonstrating its potential scalability for the Australian red meat processing industry.

Upon completing my PhD, I took on a role where I assisted red meat processors in digitalising their livestock procurement and purchasing systems. These experiences fuelled my passion for the industry and deepened my desire to contribute to impactful innovations. This journey ultimately led me to AMPC as a project officer, where I am committed to driving meaningful advancements in our industry.

What are you most excited about your role and working with processors?

I’m very excited to work closely with red meat processors and their research investigators, understanding the problems we aim to solve and how AMPC, along with my role, can support them in achieving successful research outcomes that will ultimately benefit processors and our industry in the long term. As someone who continuously seeks to learn, I’m thrilled to work on current and future technologies that our team is developing. With my PhD in chemical engineering and meat safety, I’m eager to offer new perspectives to our projects in advanced manufacturing and contribute to even more impactful research in our industry.

What are your priorities for the next three months?

My first priority is to get up to speed with the achieved milestones and the latest progress of our current projects. I plan to fully immerse myself in understanding the technologies we aim to develop and how they will benefit our members. Another priority is to gain a thorough understanding of our AMPC processes, values and strategic initiatives. Lastly, I aim to create new visually themed roadmaps to showcase all the good work and innovations we have achieved in the past and how they correlate with our current projects. This will help communicate our progress and strategic direction effectively.

Where do you see red meat processing in 10 years?

In the next 10 years, I envision more automated processes in meat processing to ensure meat safety, operational efficiency and product consistency. Additionally, these advancements will enhance product traceability and sustainability to meet evolving consumer demands and expectations.
