The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC), Australian Country Choice (ACC), and AirAgri Services have announced a new research project dedicated to reshaping farm and processing safety through first-principles thinking and a supply chain approach.
This initiative represents a fundamental shift in how safety is integrated across the entire supply chain—from breeding and finishing to processing—bringing together cutting-edge technology and deep industry expertise to address one of agriculture’s most pressing challenges.
Traditionally, farm and processing safety has relied on passive measures—reactive responses, compliance checks, and delayed intervention. This project will introduce a new wave of proactive safety solutions designed to reduce risks in real time.
AirAgri CEO James Diamond highlighted the transformative nature of this collaboration.
“We are at a critical moment in the evolution of supply chain safety. By moving from passive systems to active monitoring, we’re empowering farmers, processors and agribusinesses with real-time, intelligent tools that prevent incidents before they happen. Our innovations—ranging from AI-powered fatigue and mental health assessments to the world’s first automated physical safety monitoring system—mark a significant step forward for worker wellbeing and operational resilience.”
The integration of voice and SMS interfaces, alongside AI-driven fatigue and mental health assessment models, ensures that safety isn’t just about compliance—it’s about real, tangible improvements to worker wellbeing, productivity, and retention.
AMPC Program Manager People and Culture Amanda Carter underscored the importance of investing in safety innovation.
“We are thrilled to support this innovation, not just because of its potential for industry-wide transformation, but because supply chain safety remains one of the most statistically challenging areas in agriculture. This initiative is about more than compliance—it’s about creating real change that protects lives and strengthens our workforce.”
By quantifying the impact of active safety solutions and assessing their secondary effects on productivity and team retention, this project will deliver crucial data to inform future industry-wide adoption.
With this partnership, AgriFutures, AMPC, Australian Country Choice, and AirAgri are setting a new benchmark for workplace safety—one that leverages emerging technology, AI-driven intelligence, and practical on-the-ground implementation to ensure that supply chain safety is not just a priority, but a fundamental part of a sustainable and resilient industry.
