What are our privacy principlesWe adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). These principles govern the way in which we collect, use, store, disclose, secure, and dispose of your personal information.

What is personal informationPersonal information is defined on s 6(1) of the Privacy Act as “information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable”. Examples of personal information we may collect include (but not limited to):
- Email addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Bank account/credit card details
- Photos or videos
- Details about an individual’s traits, their opinions or where they work
Quality of your personal informationIt is important to us that your personal information is correct. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your personal information is accurate, complete, and up to date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.
Security of your personal informationAMPC will take all the reasonable steps to store your personal information in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
When your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information.
Access to your personal informationYou may access the personal information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your personal information, please contact us in writing.
AMPC will not charge access fees for your request but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your personal information.
As part of our measures to protect your personal information, we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.
Why we collect personal informationOur primary purpose for the collection of data is for the provision of our services to you, as well as providing information to our members, suppliers and for marketing. We may also use your personal information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.
When we collect personal information, we will where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.
How we collect personal informationWe generally collect personal information through a variety of means including the use of forms online portals, other electronic or paper correspondence and verbal conversations or interviews. This may include, but is not limited to, the following means:
- In the course of delivering AMPC activities or programs
- When you enter into any agreements with AMPC
- Through emails or any form of communication (face-to-face, in writing or by telephone), requests or queries or signing up to newsletters and updates
- When you attend a committee or panel meeting, or an event run by us
- Through the use of automated technologies such as google analytics, cookies, server logs and other similar technologies
Sensitive informationSensitive information includes information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, memberships of professional, trade or political associations, religious or philosophical beliefs, criminal record, or health, genetic or biometric information.
Sensitive information will be used by us only:
- For the primary purpose for which it was obtained
- For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose
- With your consent, or where required or authorised by law
Third partiesWhere reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your “personal information” only from you. There are times when we may provide or be provided with information by third parties.
Disclosure of personal informationYour personal information may be disclosed to external parties in some circumstances including the following:
- Third parties we utilise for our business and/or services.
- Where required or authorised by law.
