The red meat processing sector contributes about 100,000 direct and indirect jobs in Australia, mostly located in regional areas. Many meat processors are the largest employer in their region.
Labour attraction and retention is critical to the sector’s success, and this will only become more important as the types of roles available become more sophisticated.
AMPC’s strategic aspiration is that the processing sector be seen as a diverse, safe and attractive industry of choice for employment by 2030.
