Spotlight on Innovation in Wagga Wagga

Last month, the Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) hosted its first regional Innovation Spotlight event in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Red meat processors from across the Riverina region attended the full-day workshop where AMPC program managers delivered updates on their program areas including the priorities for research, development, and extension.

The event included a panel discussion led by AMPC Program Manager Amanda Carter on key focus areas from the people and culture program including exoskeletons, data collection, neurodiversity in the workplace, and understanding psychosocial hazards in the red meat processing industry.

Research providers Northmore Gordon, RIM Services, Aegis Risk Management Services, Team Cohesion, Toustone, and Core Additive presented the latest insights from their AMPC-funded projects. They also demonstrated new tools and resources available to processors as part of the provider showcase.

AMPC Extension and Adoption Manager David Carew said, “AMPC is committed to extending the outcomes of our research and development projects.”

“The Innovation Spotlight event series will help us connect with processors in regional areas across Australia and keep them informed about programs, resources, technology advancements, and sustainability tools that can be adopted at their processing plants.

“The event was very well-received by attendees. It was a great opportunity for processors to connect with the AMPC team and our research providers.

“We were extremely impressed by the uptake of our programs with a number of processors signing up to be involved in the 2024 Environmental Performance Review and AMPC Grants Helpline”, he said.

The next Innovation Spotlight event will be held in Toowoomba, QLD in November.
