The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) recently hosted its regional Innovation Spotlight event in Toowoomba, QLD.
Processors from Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and members from the Queensland Country Meat Processors Association (QCMPA) attended the full-day seminar where AMPC program managers delivered updates on their program areas including the priorities for research and development, and future innovations for the Australian red meat processing industry.
The event included a panel discussion led by AMPC Program Manager Matthew Deegan on ‘Managing the facility – energy water nexus’ with research providers NRG One, All Energy, and Northmore Gordon presenting the latest insights from their AMPC-funded projects.
Attendees were provided with an overview of sustainability tools, calculators, and resources available to processors on the AMPC website while the AMPC Careers Portal was showcased via an interactive TV for processors to trial.
AMPC Extension and Adoption Manager David Carew said, “AMPC was extremely impressed by the engagement from processors that attended the event.”
“The Innovation Spotlight event series is helping AMPC to connect with processors in regional areas and keep them informed about the latest research and development outcomes, resources, and tools and calculators, that can support a sustainable, efficient, and profitable red meat processing industry.”
“It was also a great opportunity for our team to connect with smaller processors from QCMPA to explore ideas and innovations to advance their processing facilities.”
The next Innovation Spotlight event will be held in Perth, WA in February 2025.
