AMPC recently conducted its annual processor survey, and we thank the 59 members who responded to detailed telephone interviews to provide us with valuable feedback. The response rate was higher than last year and provided us with a robust data set.
These survey results help us track our performance and, importantly, to plan for continued improvement.
We are dedicated to improving our service to processors and will actively pursue the recommendations outlined below.
Summary of results
Member satisfaction with AMPC is high, with over two in three (69 per cent) processors moderately or very satisfied with AMPC. When asked for reasons behind their scores, many members mentioned high levels of proactivity and responsiveness from AMPC, helpful and insightful information and impact in the industry. Some processors from smaller sized plants questioned the relatability of projects to their operations and some processors felt their membership was not used to its full potential.
When asked to rate their likelihood of promoting AMPC to others in the meat industry, 63 per cent gave a rating of eight or more out of 10 which is a slight decrease compared to last year. Those who said they would recommend AMPC mentioned factors like credibility in R&D, while others raised concerns including how well the needs of smaller processors are met.
Trust in the organisation is high and has increased slightly since 2022. Three in five (61 per cent) of processors describe their level of trust in AMPC as high, and 10 per cent describe it as very high. Engagement quality is seen as good by most processors.
When asked about AMPC’s direction, most members feel it is staying the same (64 per cent), although 29 per cent believe it is improving. Large organisations are most likely to feel AMPC is improving.
AMPC’s involvement with research projects and tools and resources is the most familiar service, recalled by two in five members (61 per cent).
Recommendations
The report makes five recommendations which AMPC will work to implement.
- Maintain key strengths and role in the industry through effective work in research and development
- Continue to review scalability of services and information, particularly for small organisations
- Strengthen trust by improving openness with processors
- Heighten awareness of recent AMPC initiatives and innovation, ensuring processors understand AMPC’s work and how it can benefit their organisations
- Continue to close the loop with processors by celebrating positive results and being transparent about areas AMPC will be focused on improving
The processor survey was built in collaboration with InSync surveys and InSync conducted the member interviews during July 2023.
