Gundagai Meat Processor heat recovery case study

31 August 2026
Focus area: Energy, Sustainability, Waste
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2027-1025

The GMP Heat Recovery Project has successfully demonstrated that significant reductions in natural gas consumption can be achieved by recovering waste heat from existing refrigeration systems using commercially available technology.

The project has shown that meaningful energy savings, improved refrigeration performance and reduced greenhouse gas emissions can be realised without major disruption to plant operations.
By adopting a staged approach to heat recovery, GMP has established a practical pathway towards industrial electrification.
