Zero waste from site – liquid stream (stage 1 – concept design and unit operation identification)

29 June 2021
Focus area: Waste
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2020-1032
This project funded a site wide liquid measurement and sample analysis classification program as well as a current liquid treatment global solution analysis to assist in the development of a zero-wastewater discharge strategy at an Australian meat processing plant.

During this project, the processing plant installed water meters on as many separate streams as possible to determine water usage across all systems. In addition, several capture and reuse, and tertiary treatment methods were reviewed as part of the project with a focus on Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) and Titanium Membrane Filter methods.
