Pinch analysis and heat integration opportunities

26 September 2022
Focus area: Energy
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2021 – 1182
This project funded the delivery of a pinch analysis for a selection of Australian red meat processing plants to identify heat recovery/reuse opportunities and how they might be integrated into existing processes.

As part of the project, processors were provided with:

•    An energy consumption & production breakdown along with estimation of energy & emission intensity and energy losses at each stage
•    A pathway guidance for energy and carbon transition
•    Energy performance and management strategies for each site
•    Energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities for each site
•    Key areas for improvement including: energy and carbon maturity; metering & monitoring; net zero strategies and targets
