Investigation into sensor technologies to manage waste streams and optimise the use of their by-products

29 January 2019
Focus area: Waste
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2017-1032
The objective of this project was to perform a review of current waste stream sensor platforms and associated control systems as well as software of different types and costs.

As part of the project, key parameters for the optimisation of the treatment process operations including biogas generation, energy conservation, techno-economic evaluation of sensor technologies were identified. Case studies were reviewed, and field validation of a selected sensor system and optimisation of processes was completed.
