Concentrated solar thermal and geothermal steam and power assessment

07 November 2019
Focus area: Energy
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2019-1043
AMPC worked with Resources WA to review, assess, and determine the national application of modular concentrate solar thermal (CST) and shallow geothermal (SG) technologies for the red meat processing industry. The aim of this assessment was to improve energy security, lowering energy costs and reducing reliance on gas network supplies.

As part the project, an SG design model was established to test the viability of the technology as well as a modular CST assessment to assess performance.

Both assessments established the capital and operating costs for the technology and compared this against the average gas usage savings to determine the viability of the SG and modular CST technologies.
