Closing the loop on renewable process heat - An integrated feasibility study

28 February 2025
Focus area: Energy
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2024-1011

The project was co-funded by ARENA. It supported an independent technical working group in developing techno-economic scenarios for a red meat processor to select an ideal strategic option for energy and water monitoring and management, energy and water efficiency, renewable energy installation, and optimal emissions reductions. A detailed assessment of technologies and processes concluded that an integrated efficiency-led scenario would offer the most cost-effective and technically viable pathway. This approach prioritises proven energy efficiency measures to reduce load and lower the cost of future renewables and electrification.
