Project number: 2022-1081
AMPC worked with Tessele Consultants to assess the feasibility of generating bio-based fertilisers using anaerobic digestate at Australian red meat processing plants.

As part of the project, an investigation was conducted to determine fertiliser production capacity. Processing technologies were evaluated, and a market analysis was completed to determine potential bio-based fertiliser options.

In addition, a multi-criteria assessment was conducted to evaluate the practicality of implementing bio-based fertiliser facilities at red meat processors plants.

The project found that if all red meat processing plants implemented an anaerobic digester and bio-based fertiliser plant, there would be sufficient digestate available to interest commercial fertiliser companies.
