Focus area: Communities
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2024-1101

The Energy and Water Benchmarking project was created to help Australian meat processors use less energy and water, cut emissions, and get ready for future climate‑reporting requirements. By running online benchmarking sessions with processors around the country, the project identified common trends and practical opportunities for saving costs and improving sustainability. It also used data from facilities to develop case studies and refine AMPC’s benchmarking tools.

Participants received tailored reports that showed how their performance compared with others and highlighted their biggest improvement opportunities. They also gained access to an updated, reliable benchmarking tool, practical recommendations for reducing energy, water, and emissions, and guidance on meeting ASRS reporting needs. Overall, the project supports better environmental performance, lower operating costs, and stronger long‑term competitiveness for the industry.
