Aerobic wastewater pond trickling filter

21 July 2021
Focus area: Water
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2020-1091
AMPC partnered with an Australian red meat processing plant to identify current industry practice for the removal of Nitrogen from aerobic pond wastewater using trickling filters. As part of this project, a trickling filter was constructed, and its performance was measured.

It was determined that no Nitrogen was removed, and that aeration was more of a key factor than depth of media or flow rate.
