Smart verification technologies

29 October 2021
Focus area: Food safety
Program stream: Product & process integrity
Project number: 2021-1113
The purpose of this project was to explore a range of challenges within processing plants that could be addressed by continuous verification and remote inspection technologies.

As part of the project, the research team was able to successfully build an AI camera prototype solution called the Box Label Verification (BLV) system. This hardware solution can be used to perform data collection and camera capture tasks throughout a red meat processing plant.

The team also worked on developing software features for a remote inspection solution such as data capture.
Finally, the project also supported the demonstration and rollout of remote inspection technologies (Smart Glasses) to facilitate real remote audits, inspection and training for export certification, AAO training, equipment maintenance, and animal health surveillance.
