DAWR red meat industry awareness tour

09 January 2018
Focus area: Food safety
Program stream: Product & process integrity
Project number: 2017-1071
In an effort to avert the growing disconnect between departmental officers and the red meat industry, Food and Veterinary Services Pty Ltd presented two industry awareness tours, funded by AMPC.

The tours were aimed at giving Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) officers the opportunity to observe the processing environment first hand, as well as further developing their understanding of commercial considerations and requirements.

It is recommended that an industry awareness tour be conducted annually to allow regulators who are new to the industry, or new to the regulation of the industry, the opportunity to develop their understanding of the industry and their role within the broader industry.
