Guardian 900 bandsaw

30 June 2021
Focus area: Safety & wellbeing
Program stream: People & culture
Project number: 2019-1040
This project funded the design, manufacturing, testing, and installation of a Guardian 900mm bandsaw at an Australian meat processing plant.

Guardian bandsaws have safety systems to detect operators gloved hands.  When the systems detect the operators gloved hands the bandsaw stops the blade in a few milliseconds.

This project brought this technology into the larger 900mm bandsaw so that the full range of different sized safety bandsaws would be commercially available to meat processors in Australia.

The trial found that the safety technology of the Guardian bandsaws can be scaled with increasing bandsaw size.
