This was a proof-of-concept project investigating the use of augmented reality as a training-support tool for beef slicers in the Australian red meat processing industry.

The project developed and evaluated a prototype augmented reality training approach for beef rump trimming. The system was designed to provide simple visual training support to help slicers better understand task requirements and work more consistently toward product specifications. Supporting training materials were also developed to allow early-stage evaluation in a controlled training context.
Small-scale proof-of-concept trials explored whether augmented reality could support task understanding, training communication and worker confidence. Early user feedback suggested that the approach may be useful for training workers across varied experience levels and language backgrounds.
The results indicate that augmented reality has potential as a training-support tool in red meat processing.
