An integrated scholarship program in red meat safety and microbiology

This project funded a scholarship program in red meat safety and microbiology at Curtin University. 

The integrated scholarship scheme included scholarshipsfor undergraduate, coursework post-graduate and PhD scholarships, and a post-doctoral fellowship. 

As part of the program, Dr Ravensdale, with the assistance of three PhD students, developed a genetic screening tool that could detect the presence of Salmonella enterica in crude DNA extracts.

Further work is required to increase the sensitivity of the test.
