Automated RFID beef chiller carcase sorting system

This project trialled a new carcase sorting system using RFID, Emydex application processing and PLC systems at a Western Australian red meat processing plant. The trials aimed to improve efficiencies across manual handling and carcase flow and improve the accuracy of sortation. 

The trials determined the new system could automatically and correctly identify and sort beef sides, ultimately extending traceability and feedback for each beef side through the chilling and grading process.
