Focus area: Waste valorisation and circular economy
Program stream: Industry excellence
Project number: 2022-1058
AMPC partnered with Southern Cross University to develop a scale system capable of oxidising persistent organic compounds in the wastewater from an Australian red meat processing plant’s hide tanner.

Ozone was selected as the oxidising agent and a series of laboratory trials were conducted. Two pilot scale systems were tested on site and results demonstrated that Ozone is a highly effective oxidising agent for degrading persistent organic compounds in tannery wastewater.
