Bandsaw safety program – optimising new and old saws

Through trials and data analysis it was determined that by using virtual signs on high-risk equipment like a bandsaw create more distraction to the operator. This lowered their concentration levels and provided a higher level of risk. By introducing ‘safe’ saws into the boning room, it lowered the safety culture around the use of bandsaws, team members started becoming more complacent.
Further research and analysis is required on the use of safety indicators.
