Bone belt monitoring – vision RGB+NIR stage 2

30 May 2022
Focus area: Carcase primal profitability optimisation
Program stream: Advanced manufacturing
Project number: 2021-1175
AMPC engaged the Danish Meat Research Institute to trial a bone melt monitoring vision platform that uses a multispectral camera and AI machine learning to analyse image data and continuously measure bones along the bone belt.

The bone belt monitoring tool can classify bones using a 5-scale trim quality score and measure the average recoverable meat on bones along the bone belt.

The tool uses AI prediction models to accurately monitor the recoverable meat level and trim quality of bones, and may be used as a valuable optimisation tool for the overall performance of the boning room.
