A highly anticipated Senate report was tabled yesterday after a two-year inquiry into competition in the red meat processing sector conducted by the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee.
The report makes seven recommendations, including the development of Standards of Practice for all commercial livestock transactions, the replacement of Cattle Council Australia, and the establishment of a taskforce to conduct a review of the Red Meat Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Key stakeholders have been given the chance to implement the committee's recommendations.
