Meet our program managers

This is a new section where we will be introducing our program managers to you.

This month we talk with Stuart Shaw.

What did you do before AMPC?

My very first job was as an apprentice electrician back in Scotland. After moving to Australia I moved into engineering roles, and built special purpose machinery for the automotive industry.

I spent 17 years with Machinery Automation and Robotics (MAR) later called Scott Automation and Robotics, and that is when I entered the red meat industry as Red Meat Business Manager and Innovation manager.

I joined the Australian Meat Processor Corporation in the middle of last year as Program Manager – Advanced Manufacturing.

What do you love most about your role at AMPC?

The ability to keep going on the journey and serve industry to progress developments we have been working on for many years.

I love the fact that my role here helps me steer the red meat industry into the future. I enjoy being part of the bigger picture and looking at the industry as a whole.

Having started off in the automotive world, I never saw myself working in the meat industry. Throughout the years, working in the meat industry has really become a passion of mine to drive automation in this area. I will always be part of this journey.

Who is your favourite sports team?

The Glasgow Rangers of course! I live and breathe my football (soccer) and even after having lived in Australia for 33 years, it’s still the first thing I check on in the morning after the kids and dog.

Tell us something about yourself we wouldn’t know?

I am an electrician by trade and love rollercoasters.

Where do you see red meat processing in 10 years?

I definitely see the industry absorbing and taking on new technologies at an improved rate and hopefully seeing the benefits from technology adoption.

Pineapple on pizza?

I would never order it, but will eat it – if it’s all we have.
