Meat-Tech brings out eager crowd of STEM-loving students in Tasmania

From hands-on sessions in red meat processing plants to tackling challenges in real time, a group of 45 students took part in a Meat-Tech Futures camp hosted by IntegratedSTEM and AMPC in Tasmania this month.

The science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) focused program provided students with valuable insights into the diverse and evolving career opportunities within the red meat processing sector.

As part of the program, IntegratedSTEM, JBS Longford and JBS Processing and Innovation team members led a site tour of the Longford plant, while UTAS and AMPC representatives also provided plenty of insights into career pathways and innovation across the industry.

"It’s always impressive to see how quickly they identify issues, think critically, and develop creative solutions," said AMPC Program Manager for People and Culture Amanda Carter.

"This is a great reminder of the talent coming through and the importance of continuing to connect young people with our industry."

The next Meat-Tech Futures event will be held in Toowoomba on 5-6 May.
