Casino Food Co-op shines light on local jobs
As part of the Primex Field Days in November, a breakfast was held at Casino’s Clydesdale Motel and Steakhouse which brought together a range of industry and community representatives from the local Northern Rivers area, including current Casino Co-op employees, school officials, local council members and career advisors.
Casino Co-op employees Jessica Tunnage, Tim Petersen and Kalani Moss spoke about their career pathways in the red meat processing industry including roles ranging from machine maintenance to microbiology.
Jessica, Tim and Kalani are taking advantage of the many development and upskilling opportunities through certificates, diplomas, and university programs.
Their passion for what they do, and their varied careers show why there is a lot more to our industry than meets the eye.
More to Meat campaign
The breakfast event was an opportunity for AMPC to promote our national More to Meat campaign.
Launched in August, the campaign highlights the important role red meat processors play in the communities where they operate, the jobs supported across the entire red meat supply chain, and the industry’s significant contribution to the national economy.
Communities like Casino, and the local processors including Casino Co-op, were our motivation to launch More to Meat.
The economic activity created by red meat processing in Casino, with more than 1,000 jobs in the facility alone, is replicated across Australia, with 300 communities and a total of 138,000 jobs supported by the industry.
In many of our communities the red meat processor is one of the largest employers in town and, they help to support a range of small businesses, farmers and retailers to survive and thrive.
The More to Meat campaign will continue to highlight the important role our processors play in regional communities.
Your organisation can also help to promote our industry campaign by:
- Asking your employees to share a story about their role in the industry by sending us a video of what makes working in red meat processing great.
