AMPC meets with TruckSafe to discuss Animal Welfare Module

AMPC and the Australian red meat industry have a strong commitment to animal welfare practices.  AMPC recently met with TruckSafe National Manager, Mr Justin Flemming, to review the TruckSafe Animal Welfare Module (formerly TruckCare), an audited quality assurance program for livestock transport.

“This module is all about animal welfare, and is a quality and safety management system for livestock transport businesses, big and small alike,” said Mr Flemming. “Operators who have animal welfare accreditation will adhere to the strictest conditions for transporting animals and are operating at the highest standard possible in Australia.

“These operators have gone the extra mile to adopt a management system that assures their clients that procedures for transporting livestock exceed national minimum standards.”

The management procedures for the Trucksafe Animal Welfare Module will be further developed and implemented to ensure a continuing commitment to animal welfare standards and regulations. These include humane transportation of stock, disease prevention, minimising stock movement stress and contamination, traceability throughout the ‘paddock to plate’ value system, and the eating quality and safety of the meat end-product.
