Members vote to update AMPC’s Constitution

The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Sydney on Thursday, 13 November 2025. At the meeting, members voted to approve six amendments to the AMPC Constitution.

The AMPC Board has been working on modernising the Constitution, and the approved changes include defining the applicable laws for the company, inserting and amending other ancillary definitions, and updating references to the now-repealed Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997 (Cth).

The AGM was attended by a quorum of voting members, with 100 per cent of votes cast in favour of amending the Constitution.

AMPC Chair Melissa Fletcher said, “These changes to the Constitution reflect the Board’s commitment to continuous improvement in its governance practices."

"Voting at the AGM is an important way for levy payers to engage with how AMPC is governed, to build a prosperous and sustainable future for Australia’s red meat processing industry.”

At the meeting, the AMPC Chair presented an overview of the state of the red meat processing industry, focusing on the strong reputation and high demand for Australian red meat, while showcasing the research and development opportunities ahead, including the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and value-adding to products and by-products.

AMPC CEO Edwina Toohey outlined the company’s performance for the 2024-2025 financial year, highlighting significant investment in research and development, marketing, and joint initiatives across AMPC’s portfolio areas, totalling 272 projects, and a continued focus on delivering research excellence and strong commercial outcomes for red meat processors.

Melissa said, "The Board remains committed to ensuring the industry’s voice is central to AMPC’s priorities and that investments deliver value to levy payers."

The AMPC Board comprises seven processor directors and two independent directors. The directors bring diverse skills and experience from across the processing industry and related fields.
