AMPC launches new online hub to support red meat processors

The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) has launched a new online platform designed to make training and information easier to access across the red meat processing industry.

The AMPC Knowledge Hub (The Hub) was launched at the AMPC Innovation Showcase in Brisbane on 10 September, where attendees were able to explore the platform and see firsthand how it can support plant operations.

Developed in direct response to feedback from processors, The Hub aims to remove common barriers to training and knowledge access by providing a central location for practical, up-to-date resources. It brings together a wide range of curated content including research reports, tools, benchmarks and training courses.

AMPC Program Manager People and Culture, Amanda Carter, described The Hub as a long-term investment in building capability across the industry.

“Research, insights and training have the potential to transform how we work. But without the right infrastructure, that knowledge often remains out of reach or unused,” she said.

“The Hub brings together the ideas, experience and evidence that already exist across our industry, making it easier to find, share and build on. It is a practical tool to help us go further, faster.”

The site includes AMPC-funded research publications, industry benchmarks, templates, calculators, case studies and technical tools. It also features forums, event listings and industry videos to support collaboration and knowledge sharing.

A key component of The Hub is its online training catalogue, which hosts a growing library of quality-assured online and virtual reality training courses.

“Training was consistently raised as a sticking point during consultation with processors,” Ms Carter explained.

“Many plants want to introduce online training but don’t know where to start. Others are building content from scratch when suitable courses already exist.”

The Hub has been designed to support processors of all sizes by providing training solutions that suit different levels of digital readiness. Processors with an existing learning management system (LMS) can download courses directly from The Hub, while those without a system can request access to a managed LMS.

Topics currently available include general induction and food safety, with content available in multiple languages to support culturally and linguistically diverse workforces.

Content on The Hub will continue to be updated and expanded based on processor feedback and emerging industry needs.

“As the site launches, we’re encouraging users to provide feedback. Not just on the experience, but on the content they would like to see added to the platform,” Ms Carter added.

The platform was shaped over 18 months of consultation with processors, trainers and researchers and is now live for all AMPC-registered processors and the public.
