Average energy intensity for processing red meat (excluding thermal energy for rendering) increased by 43% between 2015 - 2020. Greater efforts are needed around energy efficiency and renewables if our sector is to achieve CN30. Implementing on-site renewables like Solar PV is one of the most viable options to help achieve this.
AMPC has identified renewable electricity (RE) as a key sustainability focus for the red meat processing industry with a goal to reach 100% RE by 2030. In order to achieve this, investments have been directed to measure, identify, and adopt affordable RE strategies, including a core project with Beam Solar to assess and design affordable Solar PV options.
Beam Solar helps businesses make decisions about solar and battery investments and then streamlines the design and procurement process. This reduces project risk and internal resourcing to make Solar PV easier to deploy.
