Monitoring public attitudes to livestock industries and livestock welfare

15 July 2019
Focus area: Communities
Program stream: Sustainability
Project number: 2018-1120
This project used a questionnaire to monitor the public attitudes, knowledge and behaviour relating to animal welfare in the primary industry sector and to determine changes in attitudes and behaviours relevant to animal welfare in livestock industries.

Trends showed that public engagement has increased over time; more people appear to be more engaged, opinion leaders’ communication activities increased, and respondents generally reported more community behaviours. This suggests a greater awareness of animal welfare issues in the general population.
